Short answerYour guests already carry the best wedding cameras: their phones take sharp photos and video, and with a QR code on the table everything reaches you the same night. Disposable and instant cameras are fun extras for the film look, but they're limited to a few dozen shots, record no video and cost more per photo.
The four options compared
| Disposable cameras | Instant cameras | Digital cameras on tables | Guests' phones + QR | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | ~$25–30 each incl. developing | Camera plus film for every shot | Buy or rent; risk of loss | US$79 once with FrameAmour |
| Shots | About 27 each | Limited by film packs | Plenty | As many as guests like |
| Video | No | No | Sometimes | Yes |
| When you see them | Days or weeks later | Instantly, but prints go home with guests | After you collect the memory cards | The same night |
| Quality | Grainy film, many blurry shots | Charming, small prints | Good, if guests use them | Modern phone quality, originals kept |
| Best for | Retro fun, kids | Guest book, photo corner | Rarely worth it | Collecting everything |
The disposable figures come from our disposable camera cost breakdown.
Disposable cameras: charming, limited
A disposable on every table looks lovely and kids adore them. But each one holds about 27 shots, plenty come back dark or blurry, some cameras go missing, and you wait for developing before you see anything.
Instant cameras: best for the guest book
Instant cameras give guests a print straight away, which makes them perfect beside the guest book: take a photo, stick it in, write a message. As the main way to collect photos they're expensive per shot, and most prints leave with the guests.
Digital cameras on the tables: usually skip
A few couples put cheap digital cameras on the tables. Guests tend to ignore them in favour of their own phones, and you have to collect and copy every memory card afterwards.
Phones and a QR code: the camera everyone already has
Every guest has a camera better than anything you could put on the table, and they're already using it. The only problem has been getting the photos off their phones. A QR card on each table fixes that: guests scan it and add photos and videos to your gallery from the browser, with no app and no account.
